Scream (1996) - First 5 Minutes (Opening scene)

this is the first 5 minutes of scream, a hit horror series.
at the very beginning all we see is a black screen this makes us wary on what will pop up on screen as horrors are known for jump scares so the audience is constantly on the edge of their seat. loud bangs and screams jump in to hopefully make the audience scared. they use asynchronous sound with the telephone ringing  making us think why the telephone is ringing and who will be the character picking up.
the mysterious male voice makes the phone call unusual as people in the audience can relate and put them selfs in her shoes and feel that it would be very strange.
the situation of a pretty young girl in a house home alone adds to the 'horror' aspect as a young woman seems defenseless on her own.
the shots they use for the phone scene are mainly closes ups to show the hand picking up the phone and mid shots to show the lady on the phone speaking.

they use over shoulder camera shots to follow the girl around the house so the audience can see and feel in her position.
